Hello, my name is Dane. I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-Day Saints for 40 years now. For those of you older Saints who are
wondering… yes, I have read “A Soul So Rebellious”. For those who
are younger… no, I am not Professor Klump from the movie “The Nutty
Professor”. To everyone else in between… no, you’ve mistaken me for the
other black member you’ve ran into from Stake Conference. I am just a humble
man residing in a small town near Nashville, TN. with my wife and family of 7.
(I’ve included the 3 kids who have grown and went on their own, who from time
to time return home for sundry reasons. So I took the liberty to include them
also.)
I am writing this blog to give other Latter-Day Saints (or anyone else who
may be interested) a curious look at interracial marriage and its challenges
within the Church and in general. I have been married to a black woman for 7
years. I am now married to a white woman for 22 years. I will share with you my
experiences with you in hopes to teach and edify, not to convince you that this
way or that way is the choice for you. As a caviat, the things I share in this
blog is my express opinion and not the Church’s (unless I quote from them
directly or from the scriptures).
